Would you end someone's life before they killed you? The answer to that question determines the kind of person you are. Why you have the political views you do. Why you feel so much passion about the direction of our country.
I've thought long and about this question. You never know what your going to do until your in a position to make that choice. For me, I don't think I could kill anyone. I think it would be my time to go before I killed another soul. to end their life, to end who they are.
I think if you can answer that question and give yourself the truth, you can find out what your life is about, what your purpose in life. Who you are... your views, your morals, your values.
I have been giving Cindy Sheehan some advice for a long time now. The first time I said it to her, it was hard for her to grasp my words. I think it is hard for anyone to grasp when they have such tragic happenings around them. I try and say it to a lot of people. "Enjoy your moments". No one is responsible for who you are or how you react to things except you. You are the one that will decide who you are through your choices. Choices you have made with whatever lesson life has given you. For me, it was nice to see Cindy smile last week. She is once again making the choice for herself to enjoy her moments.
When your taking your last breath in life, what will you hope to see when looking back at your life? Think about what you will take with you. Did you try to think of yourself as a person that would help anyone out in their time of need? If you were a victim of Katrina and had a loaf of bread, would you share all of it, half of it or none at all? Are you a person who tried to get the most in possessions no matter who you had hurt as you got them? Are you the person who is satisfied with what you have or are you always looking for more? In the end we are all responsible for our own life and what we want to accomplish here in our life.
What am I describing? Values. What I value is making where we live better for all. I've said it before, I long for the day when we think of ourselves as earthlings. We have so much division in all of us, everywhere. I would hope other people would have the same human values as I ~ but I understand we are all different. It is very hard for me to watch so many other people value money and power. Their lust for money and power effect so many people. Still, their actions which they have forced upon me can not control who I am. I can not react to their actions. I'm responsible for myself. You can't make me enjoy my moments. Only I can do that for me. And I hope all of you do it for yourselves.
Everyday I ask my children two questions. I hope they keep asking themselves the same two questions throughout their life. 1. What did you learn today? Because we should take what each day has to offer us in bettering ourselves. and 2. Tell me something good that happened to you today...because they will think about enjoying their moments.
