Sheehan, Anti-War Demonstrators Plead Not Guilty
WASHINGTON -- Cindy Sheehan and several other war protesters charged with demonstrating without a permit outside the White House pleaded not guilty Wednesday.
Sheehan and the others were before a U.S. magistrate in Washington. They face fines, but no jail time if found guilty in the trial.
Court officials and the protesters spent several hours in talks Wednesday to figure out just how long the trial will last. Sheehan and some 300 other people were arrested in September as they protested near an entrance to the White House grounds.
Sheehan, meanwhile, plans to return to Crawford, Texas, next week to again protest outside President George W. Bush's ranch, where he will spend the Thanksgiving holiday.
